Infotainment and Technology
The Ram 1500 has the UConnect 3 or 5 system running on a 5-inch, 8.4-inch, or 12-inch touchscreen, depending on the trim level. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard features, but Navigation is standard only on high-spec trims.
The entry-level trims have a standard audio system with six speakers, but as the trim level rises, so does the quality of the audio system until, at the top end, there is a Harman Kardon Premium Audio System with 19 speakers.
The Ram 1500 has multiple USB and USB-C ports, a rear-view camera and keyless entry as standard features.
Exterior Design
The Ram 1500 is a muscular full-size truck with a strong stance and distinct features that make it stand out from the crowd. The imposing grille, flanked by slim headlights and LED daytime running lights, set off the front of the truck. The crisp sides run the length of the bed to the multi-function tailgate. There is the option of a solid tailgate or a split design.
Two cab styles, the Quad Cab and the Crew Cab, are the choices for the Ram 1500. Either can be matched to a standard or extended-length load bed. The Quad Cab is slightly smaller than the Crew Cab, but both have four doors.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
The interior of the Ram 1500 is more SUV-like than truck-like. It has been designed to be spacious and comfortable, and in the high-end trims, it is extremely luxurious, with leather-wrapped surfaces and wood trims. There is ample space for drivers and passengers, with head and leg room to spare in both the front and rear.
The designers have also provided many storage compartments and cubbies.
The payload of the Ram 1500 depends on the bed size and engine selected, but the maximum payload is 1043 kilograms. The Ram trucks are designed to tow heavy loads, even though this is the baby of the lineup, the HEMI V8 will pull 12,749.33 pounds.
Performance Features
The Tradesman and the Big Horn can have either a 3.6-litre V6 making 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque or a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 making 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The other trims use the Hemi V8 with a multi-displacement system (MDS) fitted to improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions. This system shuts down four cylinders if their power isn’t required. This engine can also have an eTorque mild hybrid system fitted. This system uses a 48-volt battery and a belt-drive generator instead of an alternator. eTorque improves the payload and towing capacity and gives performance improvements.
The last gas-powered engine is fitted to the TRX, which is the super performer of the trims. The TRX has a 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8, making 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
Diesel-powered motors are offered in the Rebel, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trims. This motor is a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6, making 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The Ram 1500 range is very safe, incorporating all the necessary passive safety features. The active safety features include tyre pressure monitoring, and trims from the Sport upwards include lane departure mitigation, forward collision warning and emergency braking. The top trims also have front and rear sensors and adaptive cruise control.
